  Germany’s gate to the world …

… that’s how Germans call the port in Hamburg. It is indeed the largest seaport in Germany. But this is not the only superlative of this beautiful city. Hamburg is the third biggest musical city worldwide – after New York and London. The first stock exchange in Germany was founded in Hamburg.

The town’s landmark is the main church Sankt Michaelis, called “Michel”. The church attracts yearly thousands of visitors. Also worth a visit is the so called Speicherstadt, a warehouse district that used to be a part of Hamburg’s free harbour. The Speicherstadt has been listed to monument protection since 1991.
